Facts About (CFCD)

The Centre for Faith and Community Development (CFCD), formerly New Era Educational and Charitable Support Initiative (NEEDCSI), is a nonprofit organization with Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC), that works to strengthen communities by building relationships between faith-based organizations and local communities. We believe that collaboration between these groups is the key to creating positive change in our neighborhoods. The Centre recognizes that faith and spirituality can inspire and empower individuals to become agents of change, leading to the creation of just and compassionate societies. Our mission is to strengthen the capacity of faith-based organizations to build healthy communities by providing leadership, training and resources.

CFCD was founded in 2007 in Jos, Nigeria, by a group of faith leaders and community development practitioners who saw a need for a more coordinated approach to community development work. CFCD works to achieve its mission by providing technical assistance, training, and resources to help faith-based organizations become more effective in their work. CFCD also works to build relationships between faith-based organizations and community development organizations, and to promote collaboration between these two sectors. CFCD’s vision is a world where all communities are strong and vibrant, and where all people have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
