Facts About (SWF)

Safer World Foundation (SWF) is a non-governmental and not-for-profit organization
dedicated to reducing violent conflicts, minimizing the impact of violence on individuals and
communities, and building safer communities. Established in 2015, SWF is registered with the
Nigeria Corporate Affairs Commission as an Incorporated Trustee. The organization
operates in various states, including the North Eastern States of Adamawa, Borno, Bauchi,
and Yobe, North Central States of Benue, Taraba, Nasarawa, Niger, and Plateau, as well as
the South Western State of Osun and the Northwest of Kaduna State.
SWF’s mission involves actively involving people in providing alternatives to violence,
addressing grievances and inequalities, and promoting fair and effective means of conflict
resolution. The organization employs a range of approaches, including media and digital
peacebuilding, governance, youth empowerment, social cohesion, reconciliation, psychosocial
support, gender relations, freedom of religion and beliefs, research, and documentation. It
collaborates with state and non-state actors, engaging various groups to address issues that
could lead to conflict.
The foundation’s projects, funded by major donors such as USAID, World Bank, and UNDP,
focus on areas such as psychological first aid, trauma counseling, and psychosocial support for
individuals affected by conflict, particularly in regions like the Northeast. SWF also emphasizes
gender integration in its programming and aims to contribute to the UN Sustainable
Development Goals, including those related to poverty reduction, health, education, gender
equality, decent work, and peace.
SWF demonstrates a commitment to inclusivity, gender balance, and partnership, working
with different stakeholders to create sustainable peacebuilding initiatives. The organization
has a track record of implementing projects in conflict-affected areas, addressing issues like
psychosocial support, youth inclusion, and community resilience. Through its various
activities, SWF seeks to build resilient communities and promote social stability and security
in conflict-affected regions.
